No video this week kids as there wasn't a workshop, and in addition to that i haven't gotten much sleep over the last couple of days, so I look like a mess. Without any further ado, Inkwell's challenge for the week.
Instead of running a critique circle for the week, we collectively decided to put ourselves through a bit of a challenge, one I now extend to you. The following will be three quotes.
1.) Love all, trust a few, do wrong to none. William Shakespeare
This quote was the first in the series and warranted a five minute, short writing warm up period. See what you can get out of a five minute sprint pondering the words of a long dead playwright.
2.) I have died a thousand deaths, and I apologize for you and yours
For kicking your fantasies overboard Aesop Rock
This lyric was the intermediary in the group, asking for a humble seven and a half minute timed period. What images are inspired by the lyric? What do you imagine?
3.) Silence is a source of great strength. Lao Tzu
The longest of our exercises, culminating at a ten minute period, brought perhaps the most interesting of response from some of the group, including a blank page. In the silence, what do you feel? Is the air ripe with potential? Or is it stagnant and suffocating? Maybe you pay more attention to the breeze on your face, or the unnoticed sounds, that seem to accompany what is perceived as silence?
Regardless of what you get out of the quotes or the exercises, I do encourage you to keep writing! Love what you write and write about what you love. Feel free to post your responses to one or ll of the exercises below. I look forward to hearing from you all!
